Degree Evaluation Policy

ABET-accredited curricula DO NOT require degree evaluation

Ohio Revised Code (R.C.) section 4733.11 (A) (1) provides that applicants with an engineering degree of four years or more that is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (EAC/ABET) meet the educational requirements to become a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Ohio.

R.C. 4733.11 (A) (1) applicants must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and have four years or more of engineering experience after graduation in order to qualify to take the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) examination.

Ohio Revised Code section 4733.11 (A) (2) provides that applicants with an engineering degree of four years or more that is not accredited by EAC/ABET or an engineering technology degree of four years or more that is accredited by the Technical Accreditation Commission of ABET (TAC/ABET) meet the educational requirements to become a P.E. in Ohio.

R.C. 4733.11 (A) (2) applicants must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and have eight years or more of engineering experience after graduation in order to qualify to take the PE examination.
